The Week That Was

1460204_597500746977825_235262764_nHaving internet at home makes this so much easier to do. Plus with all the free time I now have as a single girl (SO MUCH TIME), may as well become an internet hermit and post about things I do for…well, er, the sake of far away friends like Kasha?

Went to TuesonFire100

As you can tell from the pic above, I hit up &Union on Tuesday to celebrate with Texx for her 100th event. I really love this girl. I started hanging with her a lot more after the break up with Sebastian in 2008 and we became pretty good friends. Late nights, loud music, our spot by the bar and the only place we stand next to a stage. She’s (among a million other cool things) working with the boys for Beatenberg at the moment, check their awesome video for the totally addictive ‘Chelsea Blakemore’ below.

Said Goodbye to seventeen

On Tuesday we signed off the final edition of seventeen SA (our December issue). It was a really weird experience. It was just our copy ed (Lara), the art director (Sally) and myself as our editor was away on a client trip. It still feels unreal that I won’t ever be doing proofs for seventeen, writing articles or chasing the team for the articles.

Started Anew

Thursday saw my first official day in my new role (as yet untitled). I’ll be assisting the managing editor of Fairlady over the next few months (she’s also responsible for the overseeing of a lot of projects in the Women’s Mag division). I’m jumping into the deep end and will get the chance to learn a lot more about the business side of things. I’m parts nervous and parts excited, but I’m really happy – I feel like this is exactly what I need to get out of the rut that I’ve been in since last year. I have one more week in my old office and then, next week, I’m moving to Fairlady’s floor.

Went to Lunch Alone

I thought of Kasha as I did this – I went out for lunch all on my ownsome (aren’t you proud?!). I took a drive to Muizenberg after registering to vote. I was going to sit and watch the waves on the beach but it was too windy so I went to Knead by myself. Bonus points: R10 cappuccinos. Fail: Flashing a couple my butt as I left the restaurant – and the wind blew my skirt straight up.

  1. It’s so good to see you handling this change in your life with such optimism and courage. πŸ™‚
Also, Beatenberg is my favourite new band of 2013! I saw them at PUMA Social Jozi and I loved it.

  2. Loved reading this post! Updates are most needed when you live on the other (and currently very frosty) side of the planet.

It sounds like a major time of transition, which can be scary when you’re right in the middle of it. But it also sounds like there are so many positive things on the go too – new work challenge, lots of time to fill (with activities of YOUR choice) and good friends. I’m totally rooting for you, my friend. I think you’re coping very well – much better than I would!

Also, solo coffee/lunch is the best! It feels weird at first, but it can be quite a nice moment for some quietness and introspection. And, of course, for eating that massive slice of cake without anyone judging you for it πŸ˜‰

Lots and lots of love from London town ❀
